I am running out of time!

There is so much to do... and so little time to do it in. I find that I am so overwhelmed I can't get anything done.

Do you ever have moments like this?

I walked into the living room and saw how much needed to be done. I stood there for about 10 minutes just looking at everything. I honestly didn't know where to begin... so I didn't! I just walked out and went to do something else. I have to begin somewhere but I am so overloaded I can't even process what needs to be done.

The biggest problem??? Whenever we are getting ready to move, everything in the house now belongs to ME and only ME. Everything in the house has now become MY responsibility. There are 3 other members in this family... how can everything in the house be mine???

Well, I had better start sorting MY toys and MY military papers and get off the computer!
HELP!!

About a motor home...

After having put 65,000 on a 21 foot motorhome... I have a few comments that I would like to make to other drivers.

  1. DO NOT try to pass a motorhome unless the conditions are suitable for passing. You do not HAVE to pass a motorhome just to pass it... most of us do the posted speed limit!
  2. A motorhome CANNOT STOP AS QUICKLY AS A CAR! Please take that into consideration when you pull out in front of one.
  3. Much like a large truck, motorhomes rely on mirrors to see along-side the vehicle... please don't ride in the blind spot.
  4. It may take a few more minutes to get up to speed, please take that into consideration. See #1 above!

The bottom bunk

MOVE OVER! I DON"T HAVE ANY ROOM!

Test drive...

We took the motorhome on a weekend trip to Illinois for a family wedding. I thought it would be a good test drive. The bed situation worked out well. The kids love the bunk beds, and the upper bunk (with a memory foam topper swiped from our bed) was fairly comfortable. The new table was very sturdy, and all our food fit in the new pantry cabinet.

Of course we couldn't have a trip without SOME kind of problem!! The puppy gets "motorhome" sick. YUCK! Hopefully he will outgrow it. After the puppy got sick we thought we were safe... he fell sound asleep on the floor. Rascal was sleeping in the upper bunk. Let me tell you, there is nothing quite as surprising as driving along and hearing a wretching sound from the bunk above the driver's seat. That was then followed by a nasty wet drip down the back of the seat. GROSS! SO the whole trip we were cleaning up dog throw-up. UUGGHH! He must have eaten something bad and/or eaten spme grass! We spent the whole trip cleaning up dog throw-up!! No more dogs in the upper-bunk, and no more dog food before a trip.

We also discovered, that we are leaking water. I think it is from the fresh water tank. We also had the air conditioner on for the dogs while we were a the wedding reception... to make sure that it wasn't too hot for them. When it cooled down and we shut it off... I noticed water dripping off of the roof. More issues that will need to be taken care of before the trip!!

On a better note.. the wedding and reception were great! We were so glad to be able to spend time with family.

Sharing a bit of history... or been there, done that!

After some responses about our trip, I wanted to give everyone some history. For those with worries about us being on the road... please don't worry! We have been there, done that!

Our last base was Anchorage, Alaksa. Kent was sent to Saudi Arabia for 6 months. We knew that we were going to be getting orders and that it would probably be our last summer in Alaska. I planned on spending the last summer RVing with the boys. About 2 weeks after Kent left, orders came down. We would be moving to Spain.

That was a shock! We owned our house in Wasilla, AK and did not know how we would be able to take care of it or rent it being in a different country. We also had 2 cars (with car payments) and a used motorhome that I had just purchased. After much disussion with Kent, we decided to sell the house, sell a car, and leave the RV in New York with my mom.

Now, there are two ways to get a motorhome from Alaska to New York...
1. Ship it
2. Drive it

Guess what I chose?? We left at the very beginning of September, after I put all of our belongings in a storage area and put our house on the market. We took the ferry from Haines, Alaska to Bellingham, Washington. We then headed down the West Coast and then across the US to New York. We spent Christmas in New York and when Kent returned to Alaska, our orders to Spain were cancelled. When we finally got our orders to New Mexico, Kent flew to New York and joined us for the rest of our trip.

I am really excited to be able to have the chance to do another trip. This one will be more challenging as both kids will be homeschooled, and I will be continuing my degree. We may last a whole year, we may head to Delaware earlier than that... but the plans are open and we are willing to be flexible. We have a backup plan, and lots of support.

The weekend is almost here!

It is almost the weekend and I have so much to do. The time is flying by so fast. Kent has some final things to do on the motor and I need to pitch and sort in the garage. Hopefully I am able to make a dent in it!

Send lots of cleaning energy my way... and let me know if you want to attend the big moving sale we will be having in April!
